Folding paper, rolling them and making swirls demands patience and I found that working with paper always brought me tranquility. The art of paper quilling unfolds it’s origin in ancient Egypt, exemplified during the time of the Italian renaissance and almost forgotten today. Through my work I hope to bring the age-old art form to a modern-day context.

The random motion of the flowing liquids in the Acrylic pouring arts and the unpredictable nature of the fast-moving brush strokes always inspired me. The predictable, calculated, precise geometric forms in Islamic art narrates a different form of elegance. There’s beauty in randomness, there is beauty in geometry and by juxtaposing them on the same frame I hope to bring back the rich old traditional Islamic patterns to the present day
